WHISKAS® wants to remind pet owners to use preventive care measures to help keep your pets healthy during this upcoming flu season. This is especially true this season, as there have been some confirmed cases of H1N1 in pets, including in cats, dogs and ferrets.
Preventive care measures include washing your hands, including prior to handling pets and their food or water, covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and minimizing contact with your pets if you are experiencing any influenza symptoms. If your pet has a fever, cough/sneeze and nasal discharge, or if you or someone in your family has had an influenza-like illness the week prior to the illness of your pet, Mars recommends you bring your pet in to be examined by a veterinarian.
At WHISKAS®, our top priority is the health and welfare of pets and their owners. For more information surrounding H1N1 and pets, click here.
